Mobile Fire-Rescue K-9 victim of hit & run

Mobile Fire-Rescue officials say Nero, a three-year-old Belgian Malinois, was struck while performing training exercises.

The incident happened on Thursday, January 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m. at Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Station 1 at 6801 Overlook Road.

Nero is a Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Type II Live Find dog. 

Mobile Fire-Rescue Public Information Officer Steven Millhouse, said Nero was with is owner/partner when the incident took place.

Millhouse said according to the veterinary staffs of MedVet and Ark Animal Clinic Rehab, Nero is stable however, he still faces threatening internal bleeding.
